Governance Framework
A Governance Framework has been developed to link key industry and government groups in leading workforce planning for the Queensland Building and Construction industry. A Governance Committee (Government Industry Partnership) will provide a high level link between the building and construction industry and government.
The Contractors Leaders Group will provide a central point of planning for the industry’s labour supply and have oversight of the development of a range of targeted strategies to meet future labour and skills requirements.
The CSQ Workforce Planning Program will establish Sector Development Groups in line with priority and critical skilling needs of industry. These groups will provide a central point of planning for the industry’s labour supply.
The CSQ Workforce Planning Model outlines a process that specific Sector Development Groups that will use to ensure that the right skills are available at the right time in the right place.
The potential for increased competition in the labour market over coming years has been the catalyst for industry’s interest in collaborating to determine labour demand and supply/demand gaps for the building and construction industry. Significant investment in mining, energy and domestic infrastructure will see the construction industry experience strong employment growth and was there will be challenges to find the workers it needs.
The building and construction industry recognises that comprehensive, up-to-date labour market information and analysis will be the key foundation for addressing labour supply/demand issues. Industry-specific labour market information will be the basis for a strategic approach to accessing and developing labour supply for the construction industry. Demand for skills and labour will be based on groupings of jobs across sectors in the building and construction industry, and will be the focus of Sector Development Groups.
