Plumbing, Draining & Gasfitting - 2011/12
Construction Skills Queensland supports the up-skilling of existing workers, enabling them to meet new and emerging industry practices, licensing requirements and environmental considerations. CSQ provides reimbursement to individuals and employers towards some of the costs of training and assessment associated with acquiring a license.
Claims Process:
- Due to an extremely high volume of claims at present, it may take up to 6 weeks for your claim to be processed.
- Please allow for up to 3 working days when requesting a status update on the progress of your application.
- The CSQ Funding Application Office will be closed over the Christmas period, re-opening on the 9th of January 2012
Which qualifications are available under 2011/12 funding?
Multiple qualifications may be claimed to a maximum of $1,500 per participant per financial year.

* Note: The plumbing Industry Council has endorsed QLD300GAS01A – Service type A gas appliances as an approved unit of competency towards the achievement of Plumber, Drainer, Gasfitter Licence. Construction Skills Queensland has added QLD300GAS01A to the list of units eligible for reimbursement under this program from 29 July 2011. CSQ will only accept claims for training that has been paid for and successfully completed on or after this date. Claims for training in this unit of competency completed and paid prior to the 29 July 2011 will not be accepted
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following funding eligibility criteria:
- The applicant must be working full-time or part-time or genuinely seeking work in the Queensland building and construction dustry and must meet the residency criteria below; AND
- The applicant must not be an employee of a Local, State or Commonwealth government department or statutory body; AND
- The applicant must have undertaken a qualification or course as outlined by Construction Skills Queensland to be funded under this program
- The training and/or assessment must have been delivered by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO); AND
- The RTO must not be funded by Construction Skills Queensland or any other entity for the delivery of the training and/or assessment for which a reimbursement is being sought.
- The training must be delivered in Queensland.
Applicants must meet Construction Skills Queensland’s Australian and Queensland residency criteria:
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, OR
- have permanent Australian residency visa, OR
- hold a Temporary Protection visa, OR
- hold a Temporary visa subclass 309 or 820, OR
- hold a Business Skills (Provisional) visa subclass 457, OR
- hold a Skilled Independent Regional (SIR) visa subclass 495.
Evidence of this must be supplied in the form of a copy of your Australian or New Zealand birth certificate or passport or visa or citizenship certificate or a copy of your temporary visa detailing the type/ subclass.
Students must meet the following Queensland Residential Criteria:
- be a permanent resident of Queensland, OR
- be permanently employed in Queensland.
Evidence of this must be supplied in the form of a Queensland Drivers’ Licence or telephone account or bank statement or statement from a real estate agent or any other formal documentation stating your full name and current residential address.
- The applicant must be enrolled in an eligible qualification as defined below at the time of payment.
- Payment must be made (and receipt dated) after 1 July 2011 and before 30 June 2012 to be eligible under this initiative for the 2011-12 financial year.
- Training must be completed and a reimbursement claim made by 30 September 2012 to be eligible under this initiative for the 2011-12 financial year.
- Licensing and prescribed occupation funding is accessed through reimbursement upon receipt of:
Copy of statement of attainment or certificate of completion
Copy of associated reciept of payment - Submissions should be made using the appropriate form from www.csq.org.au.
- Reimbursement will be based upon the cost of the training delivery and not for any associated costs such as meals, travel or accommodation.
- A maximum funding rate per participant is set according to the qualification undertaken.
- Construction Skills Queensland will not reimburse more than the cost of the fees paid.
- Construction Skills Queensland may not reimburse the full cost of the fees paid.
Multiple qualifications may be claimed to a maximum of $1,500 per participant per financial year. Funds under this program are subject to availability.
