CSQ makes connections across industry every day – school students, employers, RTOs and job seekers all talk to us – and we help to create new career and training opportunities wherever we can.
CSQ has just helped to match two pupils at Marist College Ashgrove with school based apprenticeships in carpentry at Leckton Constructions in Brisbane. Nic Olsen and Dan Jukes, who are in Year 12, were invited to site for a workplace trial, where they impressed Leckton with their attitude and enthusiasm.
The boys, who are both from CSQ’s Doorways to Construction Program, are looking forward to starting their apprenticeships full time once they have completed school at the end of the year.
Leckton use training providers Tam to oversee the onsite training for their apprentices, which means better visibility of training and savings in time and travel costs.
An afternoon tea was organised for the students and their parents to celebrate the start of their new careers in the industry.
