Yatala Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Major Training Group is entering an exciting new era in its 20-year history as the company continues to expand its services offerings into traineeships & apprentices and to grow opportunities nationally.

Major Training Group General Manager Matthew Tenkate said the company is aiming to provide workers with greater training opportunities in the transport, mining and civil construction industries.

“We are continuing to expand our business and want to be able to offer as many apprenticeships as possible across Australia,” he said.

“As part of our commitment to exceptional training, we have made a significant investment in a 12 acre facility which simulates a real construction site at our head office in Yatala.

“Students can gain experience on a variety of cutting edge machinery and equipment to develop their skills.”
The RTO was founded by Matthew’s father Alex and has grown to become one of Queensland’s leading training organisations.

With countless advances in technology, the company is making a systematic shift towards everything online, changing the way training is conducted with a reduction in time spent at facilities making training more flexible for students and companies.

“We pride ourselves on being able to offer programs not only for businesses with multi-billion dollar projects but also for people just starting in the industry as well as existing workers” Matthew said.

“We have developed highly skilful, flexible and evolving training programs designed to assist individuals in carpentry, engineering, painting and decorating, high risk licenses, truck licences, civil construction, rigging and project management.

“With more apprenticeships and traineeships on offer, we are hoping to reach more people and make a difference in the lives of school leavers, people needing to formalise their skills sets and businesses alike.”

Sponsoring Construction Skills Queensland’s Excellence Awards is a priority for Major Training Group as they continue to work with the industry body to support apprentices and career seekers in Queensland.

“CSQ has not only supported us but invests in the wider construction industry and its workers,” Matthew said.
“We believe in training and giving back to the industry and CSQ shares those values which is why we are proud sponsors of the Awards this year.

“Along with supporting the awards, we also have our open days for career seekers to come and find out more about the construction industry and for existing workers to come and learn more about getting their skills formally recognised or upskilling themselves.”
