The state finalists were announced at the 2015 Queensland Training Awards State Final Presentation Dinner on Friday. 

 The Queensland Training Awards are the state's highest recognition of people and organisations who strive for success, best practice and innovation in training.

A total of 63 state finalists will head to Brisbane next month to compete in the finals.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for Training and Skills The Honourable Yvette D'Ath was on hand to congratulate the winners.

Ms D’Ath said the Queensland Training Awards highlighted and rewarded excellence in the state’s training sector.

Our congratulations to Aaron Lobley, the winner of the Harry Hauenschild Apprentice of the Year which is proudly sponsored by CSQ.

After teaching for eight years, Aaron knows the importance of education. He embarked on an apprenticeship as a mature-age student studying a Certificate III in Electrotechnology – Air-conditioning and Refrigeration.

Aaron completed his trade more than a year ahead of schedule and is now working for Rio Tinto. Aaron also upgraded his Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment to become a better trainer.

  • Braden Lang- Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking/Welding), Darling Downs South West
  • Michael King- Diploma of Children's Services (Early Childhood Education and Care), South East.
