Graduates of the 7 week ‘Trade Start’ program were formally presented with their qualification on the Fraser Coast last Saturday. The program was delivered by Strategic Deployment Services (SDS Training) to provide participants with construction industry skills.
Trainees attended the official graduation ceremony to receive their RII20113 Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation, a qualification which will give their careers a boost.
Trade Start includes a structured workplace learning component that provides construction industry experience with 160 hours of industry placement. Participants volunteer to become a Trade Start trainee to gain knowledge, skills and build a career pathway to potential future apprenticeships.
SDS Training assisted 14 local’s through the 2015 Trade Start program for the Fraser Coast region.
Strategic Deployment Services Business Development Manager Rick Hose announced the program’s Star Student was Josh Sikora from Hervey Bay. Josh secured a building apprenticeship with a local house/land package builder.
After the ceremony Josh was asked for his thoughts on the 2015 CSQ funded Trade Start program and said “I’m grateful for the opportunity to take part and the end result has been great. The training has given me the skills and the confidence to stand on my own two feet.”
Mr Hose said “Josh was one of four trainees that have secured a casual or full-time job following the Trade Start training program.”
