FAQs

About us

Construction Skills Queensland is an independent, not-for-profit, industry-funded body which supports workers, apprentices, trainees, employers, and career seekers in the building and construction industry.

We do this by:

  • subsidising training for tradies, workers and small and large businesses to help them build their careers and capability
  • promoting careers in construction and supporting pathways into the industry
  • working with industry partners to help keep talented people in the industry
  • providing thought leadership to the industry around skills, training, industry trends, major projects, and employment data.

CSQ receives funding from an industry training levy in order to subsidise training costs for:

  • Career seekers
  • Eligible current workers
  • Eligible unemployed workers

If you are currently or recently employed in the Queensland building and construction industry, you may be eligible for CSQ funded training. Please contact a Training Provider to discuss.

CSQ is funded by a statutory training levy established under legislation. The levy is charged on Qld Construction projects worth greater than $150,000, where CSQ receives 0.1% of the cost of the construction project.

Tradies and workers

CSQ’s funded training falls under three programs: Short courses, Higher Qualifications program and SAGT

The Short Courses program targets identified competencies and micro-credentials to meet worker and business needs, providing eligible workers with flexible options to update their skills and knowledge in specific target areas.

The Higher Qualifications program is targeted at eligible workers in the Queensland Building & Construction Industry, where there is a requirement to expand their knowledge & skills, providing a pathway to further learning & open up opportunities to move into higher level & professional roles within the industry.

If you are currently or recently employed in the Queensland building and construction industry, you may be eligible for CSQ funded training. Please contact a Training Provider to discuss.

The Skills Assessment & Gap Training Program is designed to provide a pathway for individuals to have their existing skills recognised & provide the required training to fill the gap to achieve an initial, nationally recognised building & construction or civil construction qualification.

CSQ subsidises training for eligible workers in the Queensland building and construction industry. The subsidy is a contribution to an eligible participants training and assessment for Short Courses, Higher Qualifications, and Skills Assessment and Gap Training (SAGT).
Participants may be required to contribute to their training and assessment.

If you are currently or recently employed in the Queensland building and construction industry, you may be eligible for CSQ funded training. Please contact a Training Provider to discuss.

The value of the subsidy will vary depending on the course and Training Provider. For the full list of courses please visit our Course Selector.
