CSQ is an independent, not-for-profit, industry-funded body supporting employers, workers, apprentices, trainees and career seekers in the building and construction industry.
The Building and Construction Industry Training Levy (the levy) is a statutory training levy established under the Building and Construction Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 1991 (Qld).
BCITF (Qld) Limited (“Company”) acts as the corporate trustee of the Building and Construction Industry Training Fund (Qld) (“Trust”) and trades as Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ).
The levy is payable on all building and construction work in Queensland where the total cost of work, whether direct or indirect, is $150,000 or more, excluding GST. The levy is 0.1% of the cost of the work, and is exclusively an industry contribution for the benefit of the building and construction industry. The levy is collected from the building and construction industry by QLeave on behalf of the Trust under an agency agreement.
How we’re funded – the levy
CSQ is funded by a statutory training levy established under the Building and Construction Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 1991. The levy is charged on all building and construction work performed in Queensland with a cost of $150,000 or more (excluding GST) at a rate of 0.1% of the cost of the project. The levy is collected by QLeave.
The Building and Construction Industry Training Fund (BCITF QLD)
The Building and Construction Industry Training Fund (Qld) is the legal name of the company and acts as the corporate trustee of the levy.
- BCITF (Qld) is an income tax exempt charitable trust and an unlisted limited liability public company
- BCITF (Qld) is the corporate trustee of the fund
- The Queensland Government Minister in charge of the skills and training portfolio is the sole member of BCITF (Qld), the company, and appoints the Board Directors.
The BCITF (Qld) trades as Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ).
