Max and Renea, two high-schoolers from Highfields State Secondary College, have just been offered a full-time Certificate II Civil Traineeship opportunity with Paynters!

The two students completed work experience placement with the company during the June/July holidays. Their outstanding efforts during the placement did not go unnoticed and led to Paynters snapping the talented students up for on-going employment.

Paynters, approached CSQ with a clear motive prior to school holidays – to secure two school-based students to work on-site in Darling Downs through CSQ’s Gateway program.

Paynters will definitely appreciate the extra sets of hands to help deliver the Brownesholme Aged Care Facility project; a 96-suite aged cared facility being built for Carinity in Highfields.

It is a $27 million project; Stage One of a $67 million expansion of the Carinity Brownesholme seniors’ community.

Max and Renea agree that the school holiday will be one to remember!

Renea recalls: “The work experience was really fun – working with plasterers was the best, they are so fun to talk to and I really enjoyed putting up the frames. It is something I didn’t think I would be doing when I started.”

Max, 16, is ready to leave school and get a job so is very thankful for the opportunity: “Dad is a carpenter so I had a bit of an idea of what to expect however, it was still new at the time!”

“My aspirations were to become a chippie but I am looking forward to seeing what else I get exposed to throughout the traineeship.”

Both students are thrilled with the opportunity and did not expect it when beginning the work experience. The school-based traineeships are being completed through Busy at Work and MAS Experience.

Renea says that “Eventually I would really like to get into plastering. I really enjoy being active much more than sitting behind a desk, so I think this is an amazing opportunity!”

Congratulations Max and Renea, the best is yet to come.
